Among our tanner partners, Tanneries HAAS occupy a central place. It was in 1842 that Aloïse Haas had the idea of transforming a spinning mill into a slipper factory by adding a tannery to make the soles, ideally located in Eichhoffen, in Alsace, near a river — the Andlau — and a chestnut-tree forest providing the natural tanning agents.
Since 1842, six generations have succeeded one another at the head of Tanneries HAAS — a family saga that has crossed the trials of time by shaping in its ateliers the most beautiful French calfskins.
Over the decades, the Alsatian Maison has developed innovations that have become references of the sector: the white calfskin tanned with oak and chestnut, the Box-Calf chrome-tanned, or the Novocalf, awarded at the Universal Exhibition of 1958 for its suppleness and its resistance — not to mention the Barénia, an emblematic leather whose patina, like no other, is recognisable among all.
Today, Tanneries HAAS are one of the five last calfskin tanneries in France and work for the markets of high-end leather craft, footwear and saddlery. 95% of the hides transformed come from French farms where farm-raised calves are reared with their mothers. An anchorage in the local sector that guarantees traceability and constant quality.
It is this coherence between heritage, innovation and exigency that motivated our choice to make this French tannery our privileged partner. In a constant concern for detail at the service of irreproachable finishes, we perpetuate alongside them the excellence of French luxury leather craft.
