Even renowned for its extraordinary longevity, leather is not an invulnerable material. It is even almost inevitable that your accessory will undergo certain alterations linked to daily life: repeated friction, exposure to humidity or heat, unsuitable storage prone to dust and marks. Full-grain leather reacts to external aggressions and requires regular attention to preserve its suppleness and its éclat, failing which it risks drying out, cracking and gradually losing its splendour.
First step, surely the simplest. Regularly if possible, and before applying any care product, pass a soft, dry cloth to eliminate dust and impurities. Absolutely avoid synthetic brushes — they risk damaging the leather.
Using a soft chamois wrapped around two fingers, opt for a delicate cleaning cream specifically formulated for full-grain calfskin. Its gentle composition will not alter the material. On contact with the product, the leather will darken slightly — this is normal. As it dries, it will lighten again.
Without modifying the appearance of the leather or altering its original softness, this step will prevent the appearance of cracks and preserve the suppleness of the material. To nourish and rehydrate the leather in depth, use a high-end care cream perfectly suited to full-grain calfskin. Be careful not to use wax — it changes the appearance of the leather and creates a sticky touch.
Cleaning a leather bag calls for restraint and precision. Take care to observe measured gestures respectful of the material to preserve its elegance.
